पेट्रोलियम प्लानिंग एंड एनालिसिस सेल (पीपीएसी) के अनंतिम आंकड़ों के मुताबिक, इस साल मार्च में भारत के कच्चे तेल के आयात में साल-दर-साल आधार पर 17% की गिरावट आई, जो पिछले पश्चिम एशिया संकट का पहला पूरा महीना था। गिरावट के परिणामस्वरूप, नई दिल्ली ने उल्लिखित अवधि के दौरान अपने कच्चे तेल के आयात पर लगभग 4.9% कम खर्च किया।
