Road rage ends – Puttenahalli police have arrested a 34-year-old martial arts trainer and his wife for killing a 24-year-old gig worker over a minor road rage incident at Sriram Layout, Puttenahalli on the night of October 25. Darshan and his friend Varun ji, both food delivery executives, were riding a bike and broke the windshield of a car.
Fearing opposition, both ran away from the spot. However, the now arrested car riders Manoj Kumar, 34, who runs a martial arts training academy in Gotigere and his wife Aarti Sharma, 30, chased them for more than 2 km.
They deliberately collided their car with the bike and ran away, while both sitting on the bike fell. Although both were immediately rushed to the nearest hospital, Arun was declared brought dead and Varun suffered serious injuries and is being treated. JP Nagar traffic police initially registered a case of hit-and-run accident.
However, upon analyzing the CCTV camera footage in and around the area, the police realized that the people in the car took a U-turn, chased the people on the bike and deliberately hit the bike. Not only this, the footage also shows that the masked couple returned to the spot hours later and collected the car parts that had fallen during the accident, in order to conceal their location, police said. The case was transferred to the Puttenahalli police, who traced the couple, arrested them and booked them for murder and destruction of evidence.
