World leaders at a climate summit in Brazil on Thursday launched the Tropical Forest Forever Facility (TFFF), securing more than $5 billion in an initial promise to reward tropical countries for preserving their forests. Brazil aims to create a $125 billion fund to provide a sustainable revenue stream, an alternative to deforestation for economic gain.
