Kumamoto Masters Japan – Star Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen stormed into the quarterfinals with a straight-game win over Singapore’s Jia Heng Jason Teoh but it was curtains for HS Prannoy in the men’s singles event of the Kumamoto Masters Japan in Kumamoto on Thursday (November 13, 2025). Here, seventh seed Sen, a bronze winner at the 2021 World Championships, defeated world number 20 Teoh 21-13 21-11 in another 39-minute contest.
The world number 15 will face former world champion Loh Kean Yew of Singapore in the quarter-finals. However, 33-year-old Prannoy later lost to Denmark’s Rasmus Gemke 18-21, 15-21 in the second round match that lasted 46 minutes.
Lakshya took an 8-5 lead in the opening game. Teh managed to take a slight lead of 10-9 for some time, but the Indian was in the lead at the break. Both fought hard till 14-13 when Lakshya went ahead with seven consecutive points.
After the change of ends, it was a more impressive performance from the Indian as she raced to 5-0 and then 11-3 at the interval to dash her opponent’s hopes. Lakshya remained steady and finished the match comfortably.
