Summary Kolkata Knight Riders head coach Gautam Gambhir defended the challenging Eden Gardens pitch after the loss to South Africa. He said it was exactly the type of track he wanted, it was designed to test mental toughness, citing the successful innings of Temba Bavuma and Washington Sundar as evidence that it was unplayable. Gambhir also suggested that such pitches negate the importance of the toss.
