The opposition’s decision to move the impeachment motion against Justice Swaminathan comes in the backdrop of his order directing the authorities of the Subramaniam Swamy temple at Thirupparankundram in Madurai to ensure that the Karthigai lamp is lit on the deepthoon (pillar) near a dargah atop the hill.
