New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Vice Chairman Kuljit Singh Chahal on Sunday planted a sapling in Sarojini Vihar under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign. After the program, Chahal said that the local people have resolved to plant trees. The ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative has become a movement, a campaign.

“Happy to plant a tree in his mother’s name and pledge to continue planting trees. ” Chahal told ANI. He also outlined measures to curb pollution in the national capital, including “installation of anti-smoke guns on several rooftops”.

”To reduce pollution, NDMC has installed anti-smoke guns on many rooftops. The ‘Maa Ke Naam’ campaign was launched by PM Modi on World Environment Day, June 5, 2024, by planting a Peepal tree in Delhi’s Buddha Jayanti Park.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the overall air quality index (AQI) in Delhi reached 391 on Sunday, entering the severe category, with it crossing 400 in some areas.
