Image Courtesy: Tarun Rawat/TNN New Delhi: Several policemen were injured when locals and miscreants attacked them with stones during a demolition operation in central Delhi early Wednesday. Police is trying to identify the miscreants who pelted stones and will take strict action against them.

Delhi Police has registered an FIR against unidentified persons and so far around 10 people have been detained for questioning, officials said. Police are scanning CCTV footage, ground scenes and body-camera recordings to identify those involved in the attack on the police team.

An FIR has been lodged against unidentified persons, with investigators saying that four to five suspects have been identified and further legal action will be taken. Special Commissioner (Law and Order) Ravindra Yadav said the action started around 1 am.

MCD carried out the demolition on the encroached land as per the orders of the High Court. Stones were pelted at the police at night.

We used minimum force to retreat. DCP (Central) Nidhin Valsan said, “The action is still going on. We have deployed our staff for security.

Five officers suffered minor injuries. As soon as we get the CCTV camera footage, ground footage and body camera footage, we will identify the miscreants and take legal action.

” The action followed a Delhi High Court order that declared a dispensary and a community hall illegal and asked local residents to maintain peace. Fearing major disruptions, the Delhi Traffic Police also issued a traffic advisory warning of congestion on several major roads throughout the day. There is a possibility of staying.
