Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday rejected BJP’s fresh demand to set up a National Law University (NLU) in Jammu instead of Kashmir. “Where was the talk of equality when Jammu got both IITs and IIMs? There was no demand for regional balance at that time.
Today, cries of discrimination are being raised even before the decision on National Law University has been taken. No decision has been taken yet.
Let us take the decision first,” Mr Abdullah said. Mr Abdullah’s comments came in response to the BJP’s advocacy of setting up the NLU in Jammu instead of Kashmir.
BJP leader and MLA R. S.
Pathania said. Last year, Mr Abdullah had hinted in a speech that the NLU would function from the Ompora area of โโBudgam in the Kashmir Valley. The BJP’s demand is the latest in its campaign in Jammu after it demanded cancellation of the MBBS selection list at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence in Jammu’s Katra, in which 42 out of 50 were Muslims.
