This recognition has become even more significant as India prepares to assume the rotating BRICS Chairmanship in 2026, with the presidency logo recently unveiled. Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana has been formally included in the BRICS Network of Universities under the thematic area of โโSustainable Agriculture and Food Security. BRICS, a diplomatic grouping with Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa as its five original members, represents the major emerging and fastest growing economies.
Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, said: โThis development places PAU among the select group of institutions across BRICS countries that will collectively shape a multilateral research, education and innovation framework aimed at addressing some of the world’s most pressing agri-food challenges. โ He said the BRICS platform provides an opportunity to co-create solutions for food security, climate adaptation and sustainable livelihoods by pooling expertise across different agro-ecological sectors. He also indicated that PAU will prioritize actionable partnerships that can benefit farmers, researchers and students in the participating countries.
