The entire 1,506 km long Western Dedicated Freight Corridor will soon become operational as its last 102 km stretch is nearing completion. This, along with the already functional Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor, significantly increases freight train speeds.

The Railways is now planning a new 2,150 km long corridor connecting Dankuni to Surat, designed for fast, high-capacity bulk transportation.
