India is considering opening the LNG-LPG tap from Qatar soon with Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri completing a two-day visit to the country and meeting with Qatar energy officials and responsible ministers. Qatar was contributing about 40% of India’s LNG imports, which contributed half of India’s natural gas consumption. India’s first LNG import was to be from Ras Laffan, Qatar, for the troubled Enron power plant at Dabhol nearly 25 years ago.

India has since become a major customer of Qatar, accounting for about 15% of its annual LNG production. Citing the war, both sides had announced termination of the contracts due to force majeure.
