Oil prices fell more than 10% on Friday (April 17, 2026) after Iran said the Strait of Hormuz would remain “fully open” for the remainder of the armistice with the United States, and stock markets jumped. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on X that “the route through the Strait of Hormuz has been declared completely open for all commercial vessels for the remaining period of the ceasefire”.
