But doctors say a baby whose eyes appear unusually fixed downwards could be an important warning sign. This lesser-known symptom, often called โ€œsunset eyes,โ€ can sometimes point to hydrocephalus โ€“ a condition caused by a buildup of excess cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) inside the brain.
