Bill seeks views – The Joint Committee examining the Corporate Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026 on Tuesday informed that it is seeking views, suggestions on specific sections of the Bill from experts and industry stakeholders, among others. The committee headed by Lok Sabha member Sudhir Gupta will seek comments till June 22. The proposed legislation, which seeks to amend the Companies Act (2013) and the Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) Act, 2008, was introduced on March 27 this year and was immediately referred to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) for detailed scrutiny.

It aims to facilitate ease of doing business and address the shortcomings identified by the Company Law Committee in its 2022 report. The proposed amendments are expected to rationalize penalties, impose monetary penalties instead of classifying minor procedural lapses as criminal liabilities, and streamline various regulatory processes.
