Gandhi, in his letter to Birla, said, “According to the long-standing tradition, a member who wishes to refer to a document in the House is required to authenticate it and confirm responsibility for its content. Once this requirement is fulfilled, the Speaker allows the member to quote or refer to the document. Thereafter, it becomes the responsibility of the government to respond, and the Speaker’s role comes to an end.
” The Rae Bareli MP said being “prevented” from speaking was not only a violation Is. He said, “The LOP and the right of every member to speak is an integral part of our democracy. The denial of these basic democratic rights has created an unprecedented situation.
For the first time in parliamentary history, the Speaker, at the behest of the government, has been forced to stop the LOP from speaking on the President’s address. This is a stain on our democracy, against which I register my strong protest.
” Added. Gandhi has alleged that the government is ‘scared’ of the things written in the book.
He also tried to speak on this issue on Tuesday but could not do so again.
