Farah Khan got married to filmmaker Shirish Kunder at the age of 39, while he was 31. A few years after their marriage, the couple decide to start a family โ only to face many challenges that come with age and social stigma. With her “biological clock” ticking, Farrah chose the IVF route, a topic that few people had the courage to discuss openly at the time.
Now, almost two decades later, the filmmaker-choreographer has opened up about her IVF experience โ how she failed twice before giving birth to triplets on her third attempt โ and how the journey tested her physically and emotionally. Speaking to her close friend Sania Mirza on Serving It Up with Sania, Farah said, “It was quite common even then, but no one talked about it.
Everyone was pretending like a stork had dropped the baby in their stomach. I don’t know why it was taboo.
I was probably the first celebrity to talk openly about it and after that, I realized how many IVF babies there actually were. It’s completely legal – it’s taboo. ” Why should it be?”.
