The Ministry of Electronics and IT on Friday (January 2, 2026) said it has approved 22 new proposals under the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS) with an estimated investment of โ‚น41,863 crore and production worth โ‚น2,58,152 crore. The accepted offers include those from Dixon, Samsung Display Noida Pvt Ltd, Foxconn (Yuzhan Technology India Pvt Ltd) and Hindalco Industries. These approvals are expected to create 33,791 direct employment opportunities.

Continuing the approval of 24 applications for investment of โ‚น12,704 crore announced earlier, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has approved 22 proposals under ECMS with an estimated investment of โ‚น41,863 crore and an estimated output of โ‚น2,58,152 crore. Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav gave the approval letter to the players on Friday (January 2, 2026).

According to a background note circulated by the ministry on the third tranche of approval, the approval covers manufacturing of 11 target segment products having cross-sectoral applications such as mobile manufacturing, telecom, consumer electronics, strategic electronics, automotive and IT hardware. The approved projects are spread across eight states, including Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, and reflect the government’s focus on geographically balanced industrial growth and expansion of electronics manufacturing across the country.

Of the 11 products, 5 are bare components such as PCB, capacitor, connector, enclosure and Li-ion cell; 3 relate to sub-assemblies such as camera modules, display modules and optical transceivers; And there are 3 supply chain items such as aluminum extrusion, anode material and laminate. The background note said the approval is aimed at significantly strengthening domestic supply chains, reducing import dependence for critical electronic components and supporting the development of high-value manufacturing capabilities in India.
