In the newly filed statement, Musk was questioned about the public letter he signed along with more than 1,100 AI experts and others in 2023. (File photo) Elon Musk has criticized OpenAI’s security claims and suggested that his AI company, XAI, is better at prioritizing user security than the ChatGept creator. Musk accused OpenAI of abandoning its original non-profit mission during his deposition in the 2024 lawsuit, saying, “Nobody has committed suicide because of Grok, but apparently they have committed suicide because of ChatGPIT.
” The transcript of Musk’s video deposition, which took place in September 2025, was released publicly earlier this week, ahead of the case going to a jury trial in April this year. The incidents referenced by Musk in his statement are related to a series of lawsuits against OpenAI alleging that ChatGPT’s manipulative conversation tactics caused many users, including teenagers, to experience negative mental health effects and die by suicide.
