As per the calendar of sittings of the 16th session of the 15th Kerala Legislative Assembly, the state budget for 2026-27 will be presented on January 29, 2026. Last week, the Kerala Cabinet had decided to commence the 16th session of the current Left Democratic Front (LDF) government led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on January 20, 2026.

Kerala is expected to hold assembly elections in the first half of the year. Being the first session of the year, the session will begin with the address of Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar.

As per the calendar of meetings, the session is being planned from January 20 to March 26, with a break in the session on February 6 to 22 and March 2 and 3. The discussion on the motion of thanks on the Governor’s address will be held on 22, 27 and 28 January. Meanwhile, the Kerala Assembly is also scheduled to host the 2026 edition of the Lok Kerala Sabha from January 29 to 31.

2025, the state budget was presented on 7 February.
