Kannur district panchayat – The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [(CPI)(M)] has announced its candidates for the upcoming district panchayat elections, showing a mix of experienced public workers and emerging youth leaders. Party’s district secretary K. K.
Ragesh released the list of 16 candidates at a media briefing on Wednesday, highlighting the organisation’s commitment towards grassroots representation and developmental governance. Of the 16 candidates, 15 are new faces, indicating a major generational shift in the political landscape of the district. Current District Panchayat Vice President Binoy Kurien will contest the elections again.
Two current Panchayat presidents are also included in the list. Mr Ragesh said the Left Democratic Front (LDF) would seek a fresh mandate based on the achievements of both the state government and the district panchayat. โLDFโs record of transparent and people-oriented governance will once again win the confidence of voters,โ he said.
He said the LDF and its candidates were focusing on sustainable development rather than getting embroiled in controversies. โWe are confident that people will once again stand with the LDF and recognize the progress made in various sectors,โ Mr Ragesh said. Party district coordinator N.
