Maruti Suzuki on Tuesday announced setting up of over 2,000 special charging points for its electric vehicles (EVs) across the country ahead of the launch of its first EV car, the E Vitara. The e Vitara, which was first unveiled during Bharat Mobility in January 2025 and has not been officially launched yet, will open for sale in 2026 and bookings will begin soon.

The automaker promises a certified range of up to 543 km for the e Vitara. Maruti said the e Vitara has received a 5-star rating under the government’s anti-crash Bharat New Car Assessment Program (NCAP).

Hisashi Takeuchi, managing director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, said the automaker has spent โ‚น250 crore to develop a network of charging points in 1,100 cities across the country, including the top 100 cities with high EV penetration. Maruti has also partnered with 13 leading charge point operators and aggregators to provide access to charging infrastructure across the country.

Car owners can also use the ‘e for me’ app to find out the availability of charging infrastructure and pay for using them. More than 1,500 EV-ready workshops have also been set up to provide service support, in addition to the Service on Wheels programme, for which 500 more workshops have been set up.
