Chancellor and Managing Director of Nitte (Deemed-to-be-University) K. S. N Vinay Hegde of Hegde Charitable Hospital passed away on January 1, 2026, in the morning in Mangaluru.

Sources said he died around 2 am at his residence ‘Sadananda’ in Shivbagh, Mangaluru. He was 86 years old and is survived by his wife Sujata Hegde, son Vishal Hegde and daughter Ashvita Poonja.

Mr. Hegde is the son of former Supreme Court judge, late K. S.

He was the son of. Hegde.

He is the son of former Lokayukta of Karnataka and former Supreme Court judge N. He was the brother of Santosh Hegde.

He was the founder of Nitte Group of Educational Institutions. Hegde’s mortal remains will be kept for public viewing at his residence till 3 pm.
