Police arrested a 27-year-old man from Tiruchi after they seized 10 kg of ganja from his bag in a government bus during vehicle checking at the police check post at Christianpet village near Katpadi in Vellore on Wednesday. Police said the arrested person has been identified as R. , a native of Tiruchi.

Has taken place in the form of Bhaskar. He was traveling in a government bus which was going from Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh towards Erode district. After passing through Chittoor (A.

P. ), the bus stopped at the check post near Katpadi, where a team of police personnel checked the vehicle and luggage of the passengers.

Since Baskar refused to give his bag for routine checking, the police searched his bag and found contraband in it. Preliminary investigation revealed that Bhaskar had purchased ganja from agents in Vijayawada to sell it among industrial workers in big towns and cities like Ambur, Vaniyambadi, Salem, Hosur and Erode. Katpadi police had registered a case and the accused was lodged in Vellore Central Jail.

Further investigation is underway. In a separate incident, two people were arrested for selling ganja in Chetpet town of Tiruvannamalai on Wednesday.

Police said the arrested person was 27-year-old S. Dinesh Kumar and 45-year-old V.

Suresh Kumar. Dinesh ran a small shop in the area, while Suresh Kumar used to supply gutkha for him. During the surprise check by the police, about 150 kg of gutkha was seized from both of them.

Chetpet police have registered the case and further investigation is underway.
