Pizza Hut may soon be available for sale. Pizza Hut’s parent company, Yum Brands, said on Tuesday (November 4, 2025) that it is formally reviewing options for the brand, which has struggled to compete in the crowded pizza market. Yum CEO Chris Turner said Pizza Hut has several strengths, including a global presence and strong growth in several countries.

Pizza Hut has about 20,000 stores in more than 100 countries, and its international sales grew 2% in the first nine months of this year. China is its second-largest market outside the US, but Pizza Hut gets about half its sales from the US, where it has about 6,500 stores, and US sales declined 7% over the same period. Pizza Hut was long surrounded by larger, older dine-in restaurants at a time when consumers increasingly wanted pickup and delivery.

In 2020, one of Pizza Hut’s largest franchises filed for bankruptcy protection and closed 300 stores. Mr. Turner said in a statement, “The Pizza Hut team is working hard to address business and category challenges; however, Pizza Hut’s performance indicates the need to take additional actions to help the brand realize its full value, which can be better executed outside of Yum Brands.

” โ€œTo truly capitalize on the brand we have built and the opportunities ahead, we have decided to begin an in-depth review of strategic alternatives. โ€ Yama has not set any deadline for completing the review. The company said it would not comment further on the review.

Shares of Yum Brands were up nearly 7% in morning trading Tuesday.
