The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Monday (December 1, 2025) appointed Usha Janakiraman as Executive Director (ED) with immediate effect. Before being promoted as ED, Ms. Janakiraman was serving as Chief General Manager in-charge, Regulation Department, Central Office, Mumbai.

He has over three decades of experience working in RBI in regulation, external investment and operations, banking supervision, public debt management, currency management and other areas of the central bank. As Executive Director, she will look after the Supervision Department (Risk, Analysis and Vulnerability Assessment).

Mrs. Janakiraman is a Chartered Accountant.
