The United States captured Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and deported him from the country on Saturday (January 3, 2026) in an extraordinary nighttime operation that followed months of escalating pressure on the oil-rich South American nation following a flurry of attacks. Commenting on the US military strikes on Venezuela, the State Department on Sunday (January 4, 2026) said, “The recent developments in Venezuela are a matter of deep concern.
