The annual Pathasanchalan by cadre of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangha (RSS) organised as part of Vijayadasami celebrations witnessed overwhelming participation this year in Hubballi with several hundreds participating in the route march on Sunday. The Swayamsevaks dressed in Khaki trousers, white shirt, black cap and holding lathis first congregated at the Nehru Stadium from where the route march was flagged off. The Swayamsevaks roughly around 7,000 as per the RSS functionaries split into two and traversed different localities in the central business district of Hubballi before converging at Durgad Bail. From Durgad Bail, it was a single route march up to the Nehru Stadium where it concluded. All along the route of the Pathasanchalan in the central business district, shops and business establishments were closed by the traders voluntarily and people waited along the roadside to view the grand spectacle. At several points, onlookers showered flower petals on the Swayamsevaks. At Shivaji Chowk in Maratha Galli, a special arch was erected with a replica of an equestrian statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji to welcome the Swayamsevaks.
