The Baiyappanahalli Railway Police has arrested two habitual criminals for stealing valuables from a train passenger after giving him sleeping pills. The accused have been identified as Safar and Sataram, both natives of Bihar.

He is currently being interrogated to find out his possible involvement in similar crimes. According to the police, the passenger, identified as Krishna Kumar, a native of Bihar, was traveling to Danapur on January 2 when he became acquainted with two strangers during the journey.

Both of them introduced themselves as natives of Bihar and gradually gained their trust. While stopping at a railway station, he got down and brought tea for her.

Krishna Kumar, unaware of their intentions, drank the tea. Both the people also drank tea with him. However, the tea was reportedly laced with sedatives.

The accused stole her gold chain, โ‚น4,000 cash and her bag. Following a complaint, Baiyappanahalli Railway Police registered a case and began investigation. Subsequently, the police arrested them when they were allegedly attempting a similar theft on another passenger.

Police have advised passengers not to accept food or beverages from strangers and to remain alert during train journeys.
