The Congress party in Tripura on Wednesday (December 3, 2025) completed its ‘Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod’ (Vote Thief, Leave the Seat) campaign in the state with the collection of over two lakh signatures of protest. Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Ashish Kumar Saha said the campaign received overwhelming support from people across the state, helping it garner 2,13,109 signatures.
The signed campaign forms were sent to the party headquarters in New Delhi through speed post. Mr Saha, MLA and former TPCC chief Birajit Sinha and senior leaders were present at the Agartala Head Post Office located next to the Congress Bhawan here.
“We joined this national campaign of the party on September 15. The central leaders of the Congress in-charge of Tripura and the three party MLAs in the state have worked hard to secure signatures in their constituencies,” Mr Saha said.
A large number of signatories are from indigenous communities. Despite all the obstacles, the party completed the campaign.
Mr Saha said the Congress high command will convey the “people’s voice” to the President of India against the problem of vote theft (theft) that undermines democracy and popular disenfranchisement. He said that there will be a huge presence of people from across the state in the national protest rally of Congress to be held at Ram Leela Maidan in New Delhi on December 14. Objecting to conducting Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Tripura, the Congress leader alleged that SIR has become a tool to “steal votes”.
