Election Commission to launch SIR in 12 states and UTs in Phase 2, CEC Gyanesh Kumar says no complaints in Bihar New Delhi: As Bihar gears up for the upcoming elections, the state is tightening its security and surveillance activities in cities. But amid tight vigil, a disturbing incident in Barsoi has sparked public anger and raised questions over police conduct. According to now viral video footage, a police officer allegedly misbehaved with a man and a woman at a restaurant in Barsoi in Katihar district.

A man named Yash Aggarwal shared the CCTV clip on social media, claiming that he and his sister were wrongly harassed on the pretext of a routine election-time check. The video shows the officer interrogating diners about their names and addresses after receiving information about “anti-social elements” at the restaurant.

When the officer asked Yash about the woman accompanying him, he can be heard replying, “Behen hai meri (She is my sister). ” However, the situation rapidly deteriorates when the officer becomes irritated and begins speaking in an aggressive tone. What followed was a tense verbal exchange for more than four minutes, after which the woman eventually recorded the confrontation on her phone.

A second officer also joined in, but instead of calming the situation, appeared to side with his colleague, further escalating the dispute. Sharing the clip online, Aggarwal wrote, “This incident happened last night when we went for a family dinner in Barsoi Bihar, which comes under Katihar district.

So if it’s election time in Bihar then we can’t take my sister for a family dinner too?” Reacting to the ruckus, Katihar police said routine checks were being carried out in hotels and lodges in preparation for the assembly elections on October 24. Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters), Katihar has ordered an investigation into the incident. While Bihar beefs up its pre-poll security to prevent illegal activity, incidents like this are a reminder of the delicate balance between vigilance and exaggeration.
