smart event reminders – WhatsApp has introduced a number of features to make group chats more organized, expressive, and harder to ignore when it’s important. Keeping in mind that most users rely on group messages to plan events, manage communities, and stay connected across devices, the popular instant messaging platform is now refining how users interact in shared spaces. The most notable new addition is member tags which are designed to add clarity to busy group chats.

With this, users can now assign themselves custom labels describing their roles within a specific group. For example, a user may appear as “Anna’s father” in a school group, “Treasurer” in a housing society chat, or “Goalkeeper” in a weekend football group.

It needs to be noted that these tags are group-specific, meaning users can use different identities in different conversations. WhatsApp said that the feature will be gradually rolled out to users around the world.
