The Indian women’s recurve team of Deepika Kumari, Ankita Bhakat and Kumkum Mohod won the gold medal by defeating hosts China in a dramatic shoot-off at the Archery World Cup Stage 2 in Shanghai on Sunday (May 10, 2026). In a tense final full of twists and turns, India took the opening set but China came back to level the contest and force a shoot-off after the four-set contest ended in a draw.

Keeping their composure in the deciding game, the Indian trio won 5-4 (28-26), with the experienced Deepika scoring a crucial 9 under pressure in the final shoot-off arrow to clinch India’s first World Cup gold medal since 2021. Earlier, India had stunned record 10-time Olympic champion South Korea in the semi-finals. It was India’s second medal in the tournament after compound archer Praveen Jadhav opened his account with a bronze medal in the individual category on Saturday (May 9, 2026).

India also remain in the race for another podium finish, with recurve archer Simranjit Kaur set to compete in the semi-finals at the end of the day, one win away from her first individual World Cup medal.
