External Affairs Ministry – New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday lodged a protest against repeated attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz amid the renewed US-Iran-Israel war. This follows the recent attack on the Palau-flagged MT Settebello while transiting the Gulf of Oman, in which three Indians were killed. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “In the last few days, there have been several incidents with Indian sailors in West Asia.
He said, “We have called on the US CDA here to register our strong protest. The continuing incidents of attacks on shipping in the region are extremely worrying and are a direct result of the ongoing conflict in the region.
These attacks must stop and end. We also call for dialogue and diplomacy so that we can quickly return peace and stability to the region.
” Conflict. During the meeting, officials reportedly stressed that attacks on commercial shipping must stop and highlighted the need to ensure the safety of sailors navigating in international waters.
Of the 24 Indian crew members, 21 were rescued after the attack, while the other three were initially unaccounted for and were later confirmed dead. The incident occurred against the backdrop of rising tensions in and around the Strait of Hormuz, a vital maritime chokepoint for global trade.
