Newly elected leader of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Samrat Choudhary will be sworn in as the next Chief Minister of Bihar on Wednesday (April 15, 2026), marking the end of the more than decade-long political era of outgoing Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Two senior Janata Dal (United) (JD-U) leaders โ€“ Bijendra Prasad Yadav and Vijay Kumar Chaudhary โ€“ are also likely to take oath as deputy CMs of the state. Earlier there were discussions and speculations that Nitish Kumar’s son Nishant Kumar, who recently joined JD-U, may be sworn in as one of the deputy chief ministers of the state.

However, he is unwilling to assume office before gaining any political experience.
