In a major relief to HDFC Bank Managing Director and CEO Shashidhar Jagadeesan, the Bombay High Court on Tuesday quashed a Rs 2 crore bribery FIR lodged against him on the basis of a complaint filed by Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust, which manages Lilavati Hospital in Bandra (West). The trust, through its authorized representative and trustee Prashant Kishore Mehta, alleged that Jagadishan took a bribe of Rs 2. 05 crore to assist Chetan Mehta and a group of other former trustees in maintaining alleged illegal control over the trust.

The Trust also demanded that Jagadeesan’s investigation be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation. However, the court said the transfer petition would be “premature”.

It also quashed the proceedings arising out of the FIR.
