A report on bats in Guwahati India recommends systematic quantification of guano, or accumulated bat feces, and its nutritional value in comparison to existing bio-fertilizers. Farmers in India do not favor guano as an alternative to chemical fertilizers as much as farmers in Cuba, Indonesia, Jamaica, Mexico and Thailand. Bat guano is sold in these countries because of its high content of nitrogen, phosphate and potassium โ€“ nutrients essential for plant growth.
