(Spanish football club Barcelona will return to the renovated Camp Nou on November 22 for their La Liga match against Athletic Bilbao, the club announced on Monday. It will be their first game at the stadium in more than two years.
The Camp Nou was closed at the end of the 2022/23 season, and since then Barcelona has played its home matches primarily at the Olympic Stadium in Montjuic. Work to expand the stadium to Europe’s largest football venue, which had previously faced delays of up to 20,000 euros, will see the stadium reopen with a temporary capacity of 45,401 when work is completed.
There will be 105,000 spectators. As part of the reopening process, Barcelona were allowed to attend a training session at the Camp Nou on December 9. Barcelona were to play two matches at the Camp Nou, with a capacity of 6,000.
Barcelona plans to install the roof on the new stadium in the summer of 2027, a year later than originally planned, after not receiving the necessary security permits.
