With global energy supply chains and shipping routes disrupted due to the West Asia conflict, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi has stepped up efforts to accelerate India’s renewable energy transition. Joshi has set an ambitious target of installing 15,000 rooftop solar panels every day to reduce dependence on traditional energy sources.
During a meeting with ministry officials on Thursday to review the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, Joshi highlighted the encouraging progress and said that currently, about eight rooftop solar installations are being completed every minute across the country, i. e. about 11,500 installations per day.
Post-poll plans With assembly elections in Assam, Kerala and Puducherry ending on Thursday, BJP insiders said the party is preparing for major organizational meetings organized by its senior leadership over the weekend. Sources said that apart from formulating the party’s floor strategy for the upcoming special session of Parliament – where key bills are to be introduced next week – several other important issues such as pending organizational elections in some state units and the possibility of cabinet reshuffle are likely to be raised during these meetings.
