Delhi Red Fort – Investigators suspect that triacetone triperoxide (TATP) was a key ingredient in the Delhi car bombings, possibly mixed with ammonium nitrate and fuel oil. Unstable TATP, nicknamed the ‘Mother of Satan’, can create powerful IEDs and may have caused the explosion not because of the detonator but because of the heat.

This theory is consistent with the possibility of accidental explosion, as TATP precursors can be easily obtained.
