Indian student killed – The family of 23-year-old Indian student Jhanvi Kandula, who was killed in a US police accident a few years ago, suffered another devastating blow when her father died just two days before a $29 million compensation settlement was announced. Jhanvi’s life ended on January 23, 2023, when she was hit by a speeding Seattle police vehicle while crossing the road. The officer concerned was responding to an emergency call at the time.

Retired police constable Kandula Srikanth died of a heart attack here in Kurnool district on February 10, a relative of Jhanvi told PTI. “His (Srikanth’s) last rites were performed at Adoni on Wednesday (February 11, 2026) as the family grappled with another devastating loss,” the relative said on Friday (February 13). He further said that the family is in mourning at this time and it is not appropriate to talk about the settlement money.

Jhanvi was a master’s student in information systems at Northeastern University’s Seattle campus.
