A group of designers from Ramanattukara in Kozhikode district are expressing their passion for football through typography. They have launched FIFA-inspired fonts in Malayalam and English. A combination of curvy, square and rounded letters, the font reflects a sense of playfulness and playfulness.

Fontspel, a startup based at Kinfra Technopark, has developed a package of four fonts โ€“ FSL Malabar, FSL Newton, FSL Biriyani and FSL Mugham, which have found their way to many football hoardings in the state. โ€œThese World Cup fonts have been designed keeping fans in mind, especially Gen Z, who spend most of their time online โ€“ these fonts work equally well on social media as well as on large flex boards,โ€ says Pranav K, Founder of Fontspell and a staunch supporter of Team Argentina. Ever since the company announced the font, it has been receiving a lot of inquiries, especially from people who design flex boards.

FontSpell’s six-member team spent time and effort designing the font. โ€œSome even took six months,โ€ says Pranav. Inspiration and ideas come from life around.

โ€œWe found a uniquely designed Malayalam letter โ€˜Maโ€™ in a survey graffiti,โ€ says Pranav. โ€œThis was the spark for โ€˜Maโ€™ in our FSL Malabar Rush.

โ€ Similarly, the team had developed a font inspired by the percussion instrument, Mridangam. One of the fonts, Uyare, can be adjusted to any length and height without appearing skewed, making it ideal for larger flex boards.

Pranav says, “Fonts evoke emotions. Every font has its own anatomy. We constantly work on the creative, functional and aesthetic appeal of our fonts.

” The Football Font Package is priced at โ‚น700. However, these fonts aren’t just for football. These can be adapted for other subjects as well, he added.

FontSpell’s previous work includes converting actor Mohanlal’s handwriting into a font and a special font for pole graffiti.
