Cloud Code customers may soon have to pay more to continue using Anthropic’s AI coding assistant with OpenClause and other third-party tools. The AI โโstartup has introduced a new policy where customers “will not be able to use your cloud subscription limit for third-party harnesses, including OpenCloud.
” Instead, they will have to pay for additional usage through a “pay-as-you-go option billed separately from your subscription,” the AI โโstartup reportedly wrote in an email sent to customers that was posted on Hacker News on Sunday, April 4. While it’s rolling out today with OpenClaw, the policy “applies to all third-party harnesses and will soon be implemented into more,” Anthropic added.
Boris Cherny, Anthropic’s head of cloud code, confirmed the development.
