What does Telangana summer look like? If the state’s latest Heatwave Action Plan 2026 is any indication, this is a season that will test both people and systems across almost the entire region. Of the 612 mandals in Telangana, 588 mandals have been identified as vulnerable to heatwave conditions, with only 24 mandals left in the relatively safe category. The assessment, based on historical heatwave trends and climate data, divides the divisions into five risk categories.

In the most severe situation, six divisions fall in the ‘severe’ category, while 106 divisions have been kept in the ‘critical’, 189 divisions in the ‘semi-critical’ and 287 in the ‘alert’ category.
