road accident deaths – With thousands of people losing their lives every year in road accidents, Telangana is betting on speed as a difference-making factor. Its newly unveiled trauma care policy aims to reduce emergency response time to less than 8-9 minutes, almost halving the current 13-15 minutes. The policy lays out a system-wide overhaul of trauma care, focusing on rapid response, standardized treatment protocols and a four-tier network of trauma centers across the state.
Director of Medical Education (DME) A. Narendra Kumar said the policy aims to cut down time by strengthening emergency response systems, mapping accident-prone black spots with inputs from the National Highways Authority of India (HAI) and police, and setting up trauma centers strategically along high-risk corridors.
