Thiruvananthapuram Thiruvananthapuram Mayor – Thiruvananthapuram Mayor V. V. Rajesh said on Sunday (February 8, 2026) that the corporation would initiate a crackdown on “illegal spas” in the capital.
In the evening, corporation officials investigated at a spa near Statue Junction after a woman complained that the spa owner had attempted to assault her when she had gone there for a job interview. Mr.
Rajesh said that he has asked the Secretary to investigate the licenses issued to spas in the city. The municipal body will conduct investigations in all spas. “Cross massage, the practice of men massaging women and vice versa, will not be allowed.
As per the information we have received, this is happening in many spas. It is mandatory that a masseur and a doctor should be present in the spa. But at many places, authorized masseurs or doctors are not present.
The corporation along with the police department will investigate the spas,” Mr Rajesh said.
