The Women’s Hockey World Cup Qualifier tournament will be held from March 8-14 at the Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad. Sports Minister Vakiti Srihari announced this at a press conference held at Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium on March 4.

Telangana Sports Authority Chairman K. Shiv Sena Reddy and Managing Director Soni Bala Mayadevi were present.

The tournament is being organized by the Fรฉdรฉration Internationale de Hockey. Teams from India, Austria, England, Italy, Korea, Scotland, Uruguay and Wales will participate in the qualifiers.

All preparations for the event have been completed. The stadium is equipped with an international standard AstroTurf field as well as tight security and accommodation for the players. Telangana Sports Authority coordinated with Hockey India and the international federation for the tournament.

Various departments of the state government were also busy making arrangements. According to the organisers, all the participating teams have reached Hyderabad and have started practice sessions at the AstroTurf facility. It is also planned to organize heritage tours and recreational programs for international delegates and players during their stay.
